About OCR Files
Also known as OCR Studio · https://ocrfiles.online/
OCR Files is a free, browser-based optical character recognition (OCR) tool that turns photos, scanned documents, and PDFs into editable text — with translation, read-aloud, and export built in. No account is required to get started.
What we do
Millions of documents still exist only as images or PDFs. OCR Files helps you unlock that text so you can search, copy, edit, translate, or listen to it. Whether you are digitizing a receipt, extracting notes from a whiteboard photo, or pulling tables from a PDF report, the tool is designed for quick, everyday use in your browser.
Key features
- File & camera input — Upload images or PDFs, drag and drop, or use live camera capture on mobile and desktop (HTTPS required for camera on mobile).
- Smart OCR modes — Auto, document, or photo mode; language hints for 15+ languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Arabic, Chinese, and European languages.
- PDF support — Process full PDFs or selected page ranges; optional Markdown or HTML table output for structured documents.
- Structured extraction — Optional presets for invoices, receipts, license plates, ID cards, and business cards.
- Image preprocessing — Adjust contrast, brightness, and rotation before OCR on image files to improve accuracy on poor scans.
- Edit & refine — Search and replace in extracted text; review confidence hints where available.
- Translate — Send extracted text to supported target languages without leaving the app.
- Read aloud — Generate English text-to-speech audio from your extracted or translated text.
- Export — Download results as plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), or Word (.docx).
- Local history — Recent extractions are saved in your browser’s local storage (up to 20 entries) for quick access on the same device.
Technology
OCR Files runs as a modern web application. Uploaded content is processed through secure backend APIs powered by Mistral AI (OCR, translation, and speech). We use HTTPS in production and follow the practices described in our Privacy Policy.
Limits & fair use
The service is free for personal and general productivity use. Current limits include a 50 MB maximum file size and up to 20 files per batch upload. Limits may change as the service evolves.
Who built it
OCR Files is developed and maintained by Maulik Dadhaniya, a software developer focused on practical tools that work in the browser. The project is also referred to as OCR Studio in branding and metadata.
